School Psychology Internship Opportunities

internThe Division of Psychological Services provides a well-rounded internship experience for school psychology graduate students at the specialist and doctoral levels. Internship experiences balance the expectations of the National Association of School Psychologists’ (NASP) Standards for Training and Field Placement Programs in School Psychology, with the unique programmatic needs of the intern’s university, and the individual interests of each intern. All MCPS internships are paid internships.

Internship experiences include a minimum of 1200 clock hours for specialist-level interns and 1500 clock hours for doctoral-level interns. All interns receive a minimum of two (2) hours of direct supervision per week; they participate in all of the professional development opportunities available to school psychologists; and engage in additional professional development opportunities, as desired by the individual intern and their supervisors.

Internships begin the week before the school year begins in August and end in mid-June right as the school year ends. Doctoral interns wishing to earn additional hours may do so by beginning their internship prior to the school year. Additionally, doctoral-level interns will receive supervision by licensed psychologists, if so desired.

MCPS will be accepting applications for school psychologist internships for the 2025-2026 school year. Applications will be accepted from November 1, 2024 through December 1, 2024.
