Hot Sync Error Messages

There are 4 common hot sync error messages as follows:Ā 

  • Fatal error/alert
  • Memory error
  • Duplicate username error
  • Incorrect username error

Follow the steps below to resolve hot sync error messages.

Fatal Error/Alert

  1. Reset the Palm by pressing the tip of the stylus into the Reset button on the back of the device.
  2. Hot sync on a different computer.
  3. Navigate to your My Documents folder and double click the Palm folder
  4. Inside the Palm folder you will see a folder that is similar to your outlook username. Rename this folder to username-old (e.g. mcnavage-old).
  5. Hot sync your palm.
  6. If the issue persist contact theĀ Help Desk.

Memory Error

A memory error usually occurs when a user does not have enough room in their My Documents folder to hot sync the Palm. To resolve this issue do the following:

  1. Delete unwanted files or folders from the My Documents folder.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Login and hot sync your Palm.
  4. If the issue persist contact theĀ Help Desk.

Duplicate Username Error

A duplicate username error usually occurs when a Palm is re-configured. To resolve this issue complete the following:

  1. Navigate to your My Documents folder and double click the Palm folder
  2. Inside the Palm folder you will see a folder that is similar to your outlook username. Rename this folder username-old (e.g. mcnavage-old).
  3. Hot sync your palm
  4. If the issue persist contact theĀ Help Desk.

Incorrect Username/Password Error

An incorrect username/password error occurs when the mClass username or password is incorrect on the Palm. To resolves this issue complete the following:

  1. On the Palm, navigate to the main applications screen.
  2. Tap the WGSYNC icon.
  3. Re-enter the user's mClass username and password.
  4. If the username or password is unknown contact theĀ Help Desk.
  5. Hot sync the Palm.
  6. If the issue persist contact theĀ Help Desk.
