Superintendent’s Recommendation (June 10, 2014)

Superintendent Joshua P. Starr is recommending that Montgomery County Public Schools not move forward with proposed changes to school starting and ending times, citing implementation costs of at least $21.6 million per year and mixed feedback from the community. On June 10, 2014, Dr. Starr released a report that includes a summary of extensive public input from thousands of community members and an analysis of transportation, utility, and staff costs for the proposal. While Dr. Starr is recommending the district not move forward with bell time changes at this time, he left open the possibility of revisiting the issue in the future.
