Nominations Open for R.A.I.S.E. Champion of the Year Award

Nominations are now open for the Department of Athletics’ R.A.I.S.E. Champion of the Year Award, given to an individual who exemplifies the R.A.I.S.E. core values in a leadership role for the 2023–2024 school year.

All MCPS athletics specialists, athletic coordinators, coaches, sport directors, district representatives, student-athletes, athletic trainers and other stakeholders are eligible for nomination. All nominees must exemplify the R.A.I.S.E. core values, including:

  • Respect and sportsmanship
  • Academic excellence
  • Integrity and character
  • Spirited and safe competition
  • Equity and access

In addition, nominees must show a commitment to promoting the mental health and well-being of student-athletes to ensure success in the classroom, community and during competition. Lastly, nominees must champion innovative education-based athletic and academic opportunities and practices to maximize equity and access for student-athletes.

The submission deadline is noon on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

The winner will be honored during the Champions for Children awards celebration on Wednesday, May 1.
