Earlier today, more than 100 students at Cannon Road Elementary School participated in a taste testing of potential breakfast items—a blueberry-pomegranate bar, yogurt and a beef sausage breakfast sandwich.

Did you know:

  • The Division of Food and Nutrition Services has served more than 3.8 million breakfast meals this school year so far.
  • Cinnamon rolls are the most popular breakfast menu item, and are made by a local bakery in Maryland.
  • Children who participate in school breakfast are more likely to improve their classroom behavior, exhibit improved concentration, comprehension and memory, and attain higher levels of achievement in reading and math.
  • Earlier this month, Netflix released a new season of “Somebody Feed Phil,” a travel documentary series. Episode 2 is focused on Washington, D.C. About 28 minutes in, they visit A. Mario Loiederman Middle School and chat with students while they get breakfast from a grab-and-go cart.
