Girl Power Contest Open for Submissions

In recognition of March as Women’s History Month, the Montgomery County Commission for Women, Montgomery County Public Libraries and Friends of the Library, Montgomery County is holding its 7th Annual “Girl Power Contest.” 

County residents ages 5 and up, are encouraged to submit a short story, poem, drawing or entry in the medium of their choice that addresses this year’s theme, “empowering women.”

Entries are due Sunday, March 31.  

Submissions can be sent here and participants should focus on this prompt: What business would you create in Montgomery County and what impact would it have on the girls and women in our community? 

Entries can be submitted online here and are limited to one per person. Written entries should be a maximum of 500 words. Entries should include the participant’s full name, age, grade and school (if applicable), phone number and email address. Entries submitted by anyone under the age of 18 must include written permission from a parent or guardian and be the minor’s own work. 

Winners will be announced at the end of April.
