Watkins Mills High School students Jabea Ewane, Steven Santiago and Thomas Pettit won the top prize and fan favorite vote for their PSA video contest entry, Forever 16. The State Attorney’s Office held a Speak Up, Save a Life Video Contest in partnership with MCPS challenging students to create an original video to promote awareness about the dangers of illicit opioids, fentanyl and risk of overdose.  Elessar Issenberg from Northwood High School and Jasper Chen from Thomas W. Pyle Middle School were named as the second and third place winners.

The contest winners were announced at the first Save a Student Summit led by the Student Leadership and Extracurricular Activities department. MCPS students leaders partnered with county agencies and local organizations to help bring information and resources to their fellow students.

The contest cash prizes were all donated by The Magnolia Companies in honor of two young Montgomery County residents lost to fentanyl; Michael Pisarra and Matthew Loudon.
