Grade 9 Students Experience In-Person and Virtual College Tours This Spring
Grade 9 students now have the opportunity to experience an in-person or virtual college tour this spring.
The college tour experience provides close to 7,000 ninth grade students early exposure to college as a post-secondary option, assisting them in refining their preferences and learning more about college life, programs and admissions.
The MCPS Career Advising team established partnerships with 14 different regional colleges and universities to be able to offer in-person visits to their campuses during the months of February, March and April.
Wheaton HS | 4/2 | University of Maryland (UMD) |
Magruder HS | 4/9 | Morgan State University |
Quince Orchard HS | 4/11 | Universities at Shady Grove (USG) |
Wootton HS | 4/12 | Universities at Shady Grove (USG) |
Springbrook HS | 4/16 | Morgan State University |
Poolesville HS | 4/19 | University of Maryland, College Park |
Kennedy HS | 4/23 | University of Maryland, Baltimore County |
Watkins Mill HS | 4/24 | McDaniel College |

Each high school has been matched with an in-person college visit opportunity. To date, close to 2,000 students have participated in a college tour experience.
The Virtual College Tour Platform is accessible to all students via myMCPS classroom with an enrollment link provided by the high school. For each of the featured colleges on the platform, there is a page that highlights fast facts regarding enrollment, location, tuition, fees and interesting facts. Students will then be able to explore each of the campuses virtually, with a 360 degree walk through of campus and key facilities.
The College Tour Experience is led by the MCPS Career Advising team and connected to the implementation of the Montgomery County Career Advising Program and the Blueprint For Maryland’s Future.
