Montgomery Blair Students Shine in NPR Podcast Contest
For the past six years, NPR has hosted a podcast contest open to middle and high school students across a range of categories. This year, Montgomery Blair High School students Riley MacArthur and Lila Shaw were recognized as finalists for their podcast, "Paper Dolls." Although they didn’t take home the top prize, they placed in the top 10 out of nearly 2,000 entries.
Paper Dolls features the two friends interviewing strangers about their personal style.
“I am incredibly proud of Riley and Lila for their courage in engaging with fellow students, as well as their creativity in producing a podcast that explores student fashion and self-expression,” said Kevin Yates, principal of Montgomery Blair High School.
In addition to Riley and Lila’s impressive achievement, three other podcasts from Montgomery Blair received honorable mentions:
- Metro Meltdown: The Story of a Failing System – Joseph Newman
- The Circadian Complication – Elora Derbyshire and Sophia Jones
- Changing the Game: Exploring the Rise of College Women's Basketball – Katie Horvath-Wulf
Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding work and contributions to the contest!
