How to Receive Emergency Information from MCPS

MCPS uses color codes to indicate the six operational status options: 

•    Normal Operations
•    Two Hour Delay
•    Early Dismissal
•    Schools Closed/Offices Open
•    School System is Closed (Schools closed/Offices closed)
•    Virtual Learning Day

In order for students to experience as few learning disruptions as possible, MCPS will consider a transition to virtual learning (MCPS Operating Status Purple:  Virtual Learning Day) when schools are closed due to inclement weather.
