Kindergarten Registration, Resources and Tours 2025
Ashburton Elementary School: Kindergarten Registration, Resources and Tours 2025
We want to welcome our new kindergarten families and the siblings of current families to Ashburton. We look forward to meeting you and your child and getting you started in school.
MCPS has changed the structure of Kindergarten Orientation and we have two dates for registration and resource meetings for parents to attend, an opportunity for children to come in and tour the school, and several calendar dates TBD in the summer for students and families to come to Ashburton. All kindergartners will attend a full-time Transition Day on August 25th
Please feel free to pass on this information about kindergarten registration to friends and neighbors.
Kindergarten Registration, Resources and Tours: March 24 & April 28

We will also have information from the before and after school providers that service Ashburton. You and your child can have a tour of the school.

EEK -Children who will turn 5 between September 2 and October 15 may be eligible for an Early Entrance to Kindergarten process. Children who are born after October 16 will not be eligible this school year. Please contact the school if your child may be eligible for EEK testing, you cannot register online.
Online Registration: Go to your ParentVUE (if you have an account), or create an online ParentVUE account or obtain paperwork. You will want to create a ParentVUE account regardless of whether you will register online or by paper; ParentVUE is how you access all records and communication about your child. Learn more about the online registration process.
Paper forms: MCPS has sent us registration packets that you can pickup in the school office you prefer to register by paper.
You will want to start to collect documents for enrollment.
- Proof of residence (lease, property tax bill)
- Proof of birth (birth certificate, passport)
- ID for the parent enrolling the child
- Health records; immunization records (either a print out from the doctor or a form) are required in order to start school but do not have to be received at this time to be registered. The SR-6 form must be completed by a physician.
- We will have kindergarten registration packets available at school soon. If you choose to get the forms online, you will need to fill out the following forms:
- 560-24, New Student Enrollment Form 560-24.pdf (montgomeryschoolsmd.org)
- 565-1 Student Emergency Form 565-1.pdf (montgomeryschoolsmd.org)
- 345-17 MD State Pre-Kindergarten Experience Form 345-17.pdf (montgomeryschoolsmd.org)
Please note as you fill out the registration form online or by paper: there are 3 questions about home language and it is critical that the impact of the survey is understood. If a language other than English is indicated by 2 of the 3 questions, students will be assessed for English language support services. If they test into Emerging Multilingual Language services, it is mandated that this is continued until assessment releases them.
Please contact marjorie_e_jacobs@mcpsmd.org with any questions about registration, Early Entrance to Kindergarten, or any other enrollment questions.
