Curriculum
The Montgomery County Public Schools automotive programs are ASE program certified. The curriculum follows the ASE Education Foundation Maintenance & Light Repair curriculum standards for the content of instruction which includes tasks, tools, equipment, hours and instructor qualifications. Automotive program standards are developed based on ASE certification areas and are designed to provide students with entry level skills needed to succeed in the automotive industry.
The Automotive Collision Repair curriculum is focused primarily on two ASE areas –
B2 Painting and Refinishing
B3 Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair
The Automotive Technology curriculum is focused on eight ASE areas –
A1 Engine Repair
A2 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
A3 Manual Drive Train and Axles
A4 Suspension and Steering
A5 Brakes
A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems
A7 Heating and Air Conditioning
A8 Engine Performance
