School and Community News…

Back-to-School Night (BTSN) - Wednesday, September 11th from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for parents/guardians of children in 1st through 5th grades.  Please communicate with your child’s teacher if translation services are required.  Kindergarten families already had Back to School Night (8/22/24), so kindergarten teachers will not be present for this event.

This is an adult event, however, to make the evening as enjoyable and productive as possible, KAH will provide child care for elementary-aged children only. Please note that for the safety and quality of the event, all other children will need to remain with their parents throughout the evening. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring a focused and engaging experience for everyone.

  • From 5:30 pm until 6:00, parents/guardians will be able to learn more about the different resources offered through the county, community, and school. Tables will be set up in the school lobby, media center, and intersections throughout the building.
  • Beginning at 6:00, teachers will host the first meet and greet with parents/guardians and share a welcome message from school administrators, our PTA,  information about their classroom, the school, etc.
  • At 6:45, parents/guardians can transition to another child's classroom where teachers will repeat their presentations beginning at 7:00 pm or they can visit the specialist's tables and other school/county representatives present that evening.

PLEASE NOTE: There is limited parking at Burtonsville Elementary so we will provide shuttle service from the Burtonsville Crossing Giant Food parking lot to and from the school throughout the evening.

Burtonsville Day Parade (event flier) - Saturday, September 21st. Make signs, wear your Burtonsville t-shirt, or our school colors (blue & yellow), and come out to show your school spirit and represent Burtonsville Elementary!

The parade route starts at 10:00 AM at Paint Branch High School and ends at 11:00 AM at the Marilyn Praisner Recreation Center where a festival carries on until 3:00 PM and it's Free! Come out and line the parade route to see, celebrate and join in the fun! Read here for more information and ways to participate.
