Good evening, Burtonsville ES families. This is your Assistant Principal, Mrs. Gobourne, with the Sunday Night Screamer!

Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA)

Burtonsville students in grade 5 will take the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) this Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18, 2022.  The assessment will be administered in two, 40-minute sessions on both days from 10:45 am - 12:45 pm.  To learn more about the assessment, visit the MISA page at the  Maryland State Department of Education website.  Students will have an opportunity to practice using the accessibility feature tools as well as take a practice test at school.  You may also choose to practice at home -  MCAPP - MISA Practice - How-to Instructions

PLEASE NOTE: The use of personal mobile devices, such as cell phones/watches, during the administration of the assessment, is a violation of test security and is strictly prohibited.  Students will NOT be allowed access to such devices during the testing period.

Lost and Found

Is your child missing a coat, sweater, hat, hoody, lunchbox, or water bottle?  It could be in our Lost and Found.  Please encourage your child to stop by the lost and found rack in the front lobby to look for missing items. Also, please label your child’s belongings to help us return future lost items to their owners.

Masks Now Optional in MCPS Schools and Facilities

The Board of Education voted on March 8 to make masks optional in MCPS. This change went into effect immediately.  Now students and staff can make an individual choice about whether or not to wear a mask. On or Off, It’s Just Me.  Be Kind and Respect My Mask Choice is the message we’ll be using to reinforce kindness, respect, and understanding for each individual's mask choice.  Read: MCPS: Things to Know Message.
