Candlewood Elementary School MCPS

Vision

Candlewood is committed to being a safe, caring and inclusive community that fosters respect for diversity, and values the social emotional and academic development of each student.

Mission

We will provide students with a variety of opportunities and experiences to develop academic, social and emotional skills. We will maintain a safe environment that promotes engagement, curiosity and collaboration. We will teach and model respect for ourselves, others and our community, in order for our students to have a positive impact in the world.

We had such a terrific response from Mr. Johan Orjuela, Clinical Supervisor at EveryMind presentation on October 27 that we are pleased to announce that he will be joining us on Wednesday, January 24 at 7pm for Part 2 of the Well-being presentation.

The presentation will be will focus on:

o Understanding emotions

o Understanding stress and trauma responses and how these can affect children

o Understanding how safety is important for emotional, social, physical and spiritual development

o Understanding social and emotional development in children, at school and at home

We will be sending out the Zoom link in the next community message.
