Early Fall 2021 MCAP Testing Information
Due to the ongoing challenges related to COVID-19, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) extended the 2020-2021 assessment cycle. MSDE scheduled an Early Fall 2021-2022 assessment window with shortened versions of the 2020-2021 Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) and Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA).
What to Bring
Students should remember to bring the following items every day of testing:
- Chromebook
- Chromebook charger
- Headphones
- Recreational book to read when done testing
What NOT to Bring
- Any type of electronic device (cell phones, iPods, tablets, smart watches, etc.). Please keep them in your locker as they will need to be out of your possession during testing.
Math MCAP – Tuesday, Oct. 12
On Tuesday, October 12, applicable students in Grades 6-8 will take the Math MCAP. Students who were enrolled in Algebra 1 in Spring 2021 must take the shortened test for this Early Fall Administration in order to be eligible to receive the MSDE COVID waiver. This waives the requirement for students to reach a passing score needed to meet the graduation requirement in Algebra 1.
English Language Arts (ELA) MCAP –
Thursday, Oct. 14 & Friday, Oct. 15
On Thursday, October 14, and Friday, October 15, applicable students in Grades 6-8 will take the ELA MCAP. All students should make sure to have headphones.
MISA – Oct. 18 – Grade 6 ONLY
On Monday, October 18, students in Grade 6 will take the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA).
Class Schedule
Modifications will be made to the class schedule during MCAP testing. Students will test in the morning followed by shortened periods one through seven. Please see the link below for the class schedule.
