Principal's Message 

Dear Germantown Family,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to you today to share my decision to retire as the Principal of Germantown Elementary School, effective August 1, 2024.  It has been an absolute privilege to serve as your Principal since July of 2003. Over the course of 21 years, I feel blessed beyond measure to have worked with such a dedicated team of staff members, students, parents, caregivers, and community partners who have all contributed to our students’ success and the exceptional learning environment that our school has become. Together, we have achieved numerous milestones and most importantly, positively impacted the growth, development, and well-being of countless students.

With that in mind, the decision to retire came after much thought and family discussion. After serving MCPS in a variety of roles - Grade 3 Teacher, Reading Initiative Teacher, Academic Support Teacher, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal – within the span of 31 years. I look forward to the next chapter of my life which includes spending more time with my family and pursuing personal interests.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the teachers and staff, current and past, whose unwavering commitment to our students has been truly inspiring. To the students, thank you for your enthusiasm and for reminding me every day of the incredible potential that lives within each of you. To the parents and caregivers, your support and involvement in your children's education have been invaluable and greatly appreciated.

I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the Principal of Germantown Elementary School, and I leave with a deep sense of pride in our shared accomplishments. As my tenure comes to a close, I am confident that the school community will continue to thrive and grow under the guidance of a new principal.  I am committed to working closely with my supervisor and successor to ensure a smooth transition and provide any necessary assistance during the transition period.   I am excited to see the continued success of Germantown Elementary School, and I will always be a proud member of this wonderful community.
