A Note from the Principal, Mrs. Sampson
Staying Connected Weekly Communications for Our Gibbs Families
Dear Gibbs Families and Caregivers,
At William B. Gibbs School, we are committed to keeping you well-informed and engaged with all that is happening in our school community. To make it easy for families to stay updated, we provide weekly communications through multiple channels.
Every Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m., families will receive a voice message via ConnectEd, along with a notification through the Remind App from Mrs. Sampson. Both are translated into the language that is preferred by your family. This communication includes a link to our weekly newsletter, The Gibbs Gator News, which provides essential updates, upcoming events, and other important information for the week ahead.
In addition to receiving The Gibbs Gator News via the Remind App and ConnectEd, you can also access it in multiple languages directly on our school website. This ensures you have a convenient way to read our newsletter whenever and however works best for you.
Thank you for staying connected with us, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Open Source Phonics
MCPS has partnered with Open Source Phonics to provide access to resources for families. Open Source Phonics provides 120 lessons that go step-by-step through phonics patterns, spelling rules, and decodable stories that students can use to practice skills and increase fluency. This practice is designed to be stress-free, as students build on what they know rather than guessing. There are also activities to promote phonemic awareness.
