English Language Development (ELD)
The mission of the Kennedy High School ELD department is to ensure all Emergent Multilingual Learners (EML) have access to a rigorous, high-quality education.
The goal of the ELD: English Language Development program at Kennedy High School is to support students as they acquire language and master content. Guided by the WIDA standards and the Common Core State Standards, the ELD program is designed to integrate language and content so that by the time students exit ELD services, they are ready and able to master grade level content. Students refine their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking through the study of the English language.
