Outdoor Ed Information
Dear 6th Grade Parents/Guardians,
If you missed the Outdoor Education (ODE) parent meeting on Tuesday, January 24th, don’t worry. You can review the ODE Parent Presentation 2023 and the attached ODE packet, which was distributed to students on Thursday, January 19th.
Outdoor Ed Sessions
- Monday 3/20 – Wednesday 3/22: Outdoor Ed Session 1 (Last Names L-Z) (orange packet)
- Monday 3/27 – Wednesday 3/29: Outdoor Ed Session 2 (Last Names A-K) (purple packet)
Outdoor Ed Forms/Tasks are due Friday, February 3
- Parent Permission Form - submit to PAWS teacher
- Outdoor Ed Volunteer Interest Form – There will be a mandatory parent volunteer training on Monday, March 6th, at 6:30 p.m. in our media center.
- Volunteer Fingerprinting – See attachment to complete the required paperwork and schedule your background screening appointment if you did not get fingerprinted at the parent meeting on January 24th.
- Financial Assistance Request (optional)
Outdoor Ed Reminders:
- The cost of the trip is $92 and is due on Friday, February 10th. Parents can pay for the field trip at SchoolCashOnline When creating an account, parents will be asked for a PIN number. If you do not have the student PIN sent in the mail at the beginning of the school year, please contact Mrs. Elisabeth Gross, school financial specialist, at 240-740-71307139 or via email at Elisabeth_Gross@mcpsmd.org
- The Child Abuse & Neglect (CAN) training is due Friday, February 24th. MCPS is requiring all volunteers to complete the online FY22-23 Child Abuse & Neglect Training, which includes the new COVID-19 Vaccination Attestation module (your Grade Sheet will show 83.3% for successful completion after uploading a copy of your COVID vaccination card.) You will need to access your personal ParentVUE account in order to take the online training. The training will take about 20-30 minutes to complete and it is recommended to do this on a laptop or office computer via Chrome or Safari. Please email proof of FY22-23 Child Abuse & Neglect Training completion to Mr. Dan Goldsamt if your child is going during Session 1, or to Mrs. Janet Kilcoyne if your child is going during Session 2. If you need an activation key to create a ParentVUE account, please call the main office at 240-740-7130. If you have forgotten your username and password, please contact Mr. Jason Godfroy, media specialist, at Jason_C_Godfroy@mcpsmd.org.
