After School Technology Club
The After School Technology Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday. Club members learn about the World Wide Web and the uses of the Internet. They learn how to log into the computer independently, access age-appropriate websites, type website addresses into the address bar, add websites to "favorites" and access websites through "history". In addition, club members learn about hyperlinks, picture links, image maps, web browsers, web browser buttons, and search engines. As a culminating project, we choose a topic to research.
Projects
Club members read stories on www.starfall.com. The club members loved reading the stories and were excited to tell about their favorite character. Using Image Blender software, they drew a picture of their favorite character and then wrote a sentence about the character.
Club members researched penguins on the Internet. They decided to make a book about penguins. Using the software Pixie, they illustrated one fact about penguins.
Club members researched the French artist, Henri Rousseau. They created jungle pictures using the template that can be found on the National Gallery of Art website. They wrote a story to go along with their jungle illustration.
Club members chose to research wolves. Using the software Pixie, they illustrated one fact about wolves.
