Elizabethan Era / Shakespeare Project - 6th Grade

ShakespeareTime travel to the Sixteenth Century writing a speech as though you lived during the Elizabethan Era  

 

Resources for information - (Don't forget that NBMS has many databases you can use. Britannica and Student Resource Center, Jr. are just a few of them. Go to the Online Database page for links. Passwords are available from the right column in Edline.)  

 

   

 

Tips to remember:  

  • Write the speech in FIRST PERSON perspective (I) as though you are living in the Elizabethan Era.  
  • Write using PRESENT TENSE VERBS as though you are living in the Elizabethan Era.  
  • Include relevant, interesting facts from your research to teach the class about life during the Elizabethan times.  

You MUST provide citation information for a book or a website. 

 

For a book you must have: 

  • Title
  • Author (or editor if no author is provided)
  • Publisher
  • City of Publication
  • Year of Publication (or copyright date, whichever is most recent)

For a website - for this project you must have: 

  • Title of Web Page (Look in the blue bar at the top of your screen)
  • Title of Article (Normally at the top of the actual page)
  • The sponsoring organization (The group that sponsors the page, such as Montgomery County Public Schools)

 Beginning  

  • Start with an attention-getting lead or hook to get your audience interested and to introduce yourself. Be sure to not only name yourself (first and last name), but also to tell what your role is in Elizabethan society.

Middle  

  • In your presentation, include several key facts and concepts(at least 10) from your research. Make sure you keep dates and information about a person’s life in chronological order. Use transition words to introduce new ideas.  

End  

  • Be sure to wrap up your speech with a conclusion.

 Bring in a prop or a costume for your presentation!
