How to Receive MCPS Emergency Information

The safety of our MCPS community is critical, and being able to communicate with students, staff, and families during severe weather or other emergencies is of the utmost importance. Use this link to find all the ways you can connect with MCPS to receive emergency operational information from the school system. The current operating status options for the school district appear on the MCPS website and on individual school websites. In the event of a change in operational status, this link will provide more information about the MCPS Operating Status options.

Remind Communication System

Remind is a new messaging platform that will be used to communicate among MCPS schools, teachers, students, and parents.  School staff, students, and parents will all have Remind accounts to enable them to send and/or receive messages using a preferred mode of communication, such as text message, email, or phone call and in their preferred language.  Parents can log into their Remind account via the web or using the Remind app.

To get set up, download the Remind app from your Apple or Android provided store onto your mobile phone.  Log in using your mobile phone number or personal email address, which should be the same ones listed in your parent record with ParentVUE.  A code will be sent to the mobile phone or personal email address you used to log in to verify your account.  Enter the code into the field provided.  Create a password for your Remind account.  Click here for further directions.

Montgomery County Career Advising Program (MoCoCAP)

The Maryland General Assembly passed the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future (Blueprint) legislation in 2021. The legislation is designed to transform public education in the state into a world-class education system by increasing educational funding, enriching student experiences and accelerating student outcomes, as well as improving the quality of education for all children in Maryland. One component of this legislation relates to providing individualized career advising services to middle and high school students. With this in mind, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will collaborate with WorkSource Montgomery (WSM) and Montgomery College (MC) to develop and implement an exciting new Montgomery County Career Advising Program (MoCoCAP) beginning this school year.

MoCoCAP will assist us in transforming the way we support career success for our students. The vision for MoCoCAP is to provide career advising services that will enable students to vividly describe their own strengths, interests, and workplace values; identify how they are expanding their skills and knowledge; describe the various opportunities ahead of them; and describe their goals for their future as they develop lifelong career management skills. During the 2023-2024 school year MoCoCAP will support Grade 6 and Grade 9 students and expand the roll out of MoCoCAP to all secondary students by the 2025-2026 school year.  To learn more about MoCoCAP and our partners in this work, visit the MoCoCAP website.  Please complete the Career Advising Stakeholder Questions and Input form if there are questions regarding MoCoCAP.
