Available Positions
News Editor – This person is the point person for all news at the school, making assignments for coverage and then giving a first read to all copy. This person should possess strong grammatical skills and the ability to supervise the reporters effectively.
Copy Editor –This person reads all stories, helps write headlines, and proofs all pages before they are printed. This person should have an eye for detail and possess strong grammatical skills. Ability to use Microsoft Word and Publisher (or learn quickly) is a must for this position.
Photo/Graphics Editor –The photo editor is in charge of all graphics and photographs for the newspaper. Depending upon the size of the staff, this person may be able to assign people to shoot photos or design graphics, or he or she may have to do it by himself or herself.
Reporters – The lifeblood of any newspaper is the people who go out, gather the news and come back and write it. Reporters are assigned by the news editor and are responsible for interviewing and researching articles and submitting articles by strict deadlines.
Advertising manager –Designated to sell and produce advertisements for your newspaper. Their success will allow the paper to be printed in a professional manner. This person will be responsible for contacting local businesses and developing creative ways to sell advertising space for the newspaper. Strong communication skills are important.

11/13- Fall newspaper is submitted to print company, Reporters receive their Winter newspaper assignments
11/20- Editors meet to discuss operations procedures, review Fall newspaper, discuss upgrades for Winter newspaper, Reporters provide status updates on articles to editors
12/4- all articles and photographs due to News Editor and Photo/Graphics Editor
12/18- edited articles and advertisements due to Copy Editor for formatting and preparation for printing, Reporters receive their Spring newspaper assignments
1/8- Winter newspaper is submitted to print company. Editors meet to discuss operations procedures, review Fall newspaper, discuss upgrades for the Summer newspaper. Reporters provide status updates on articles to editors
2/5- all articles and photographs due to News Editor and Photo/Graphics Editor
2/19- edited articles and advertisements due to Copy Editor for formatting and preparation for printing
3/5- Spring newspaper is submitted to print company, Reporters receive their Summer newspaper assignments
3/19- Editors meet to discuss operations procedures, review Spring newspaper, discuss upgrades for Summer newspaper
4/16- Reporters provide status updates on articles to editors
4/23- all articles and photographs due to News Editor and Photo/Graphics Editor
5/14- edited articles and advertisements due to Copy Editor for formatting and preparation for printing
5/21- Summer newspaper is submitted to the print company
