Woodshop
Mr. Baiyeshea, Home Survival Skills teacher, also known as Woodshop, reviews plans for the next project.
In Home Survival Skills class, students
manufacture items for sale throughout MCPS. Students
use common woodworking machines safely and perform a
variety of advanced woodworking operations to complete
projects. Typical production items include art drying
racks and mobile storage boxes for Physical Education
departments.
This class is open to receiving
jobs from outside for students to work on, such as
simple re-upholstery, furniture, lamp or other small
appliance repairs. Students also carve seasonal
products to sell at holidays to raise money for Rock
Terrace programs.
Pictured above, students assemble a
drying rack, to fill orders which have been
placed by other schools. The class regularly
refinishes and paints items donated by the
community and then offers it up for auction
with proceeds going to Rock Terrace.
From creating furniture from scratch, or
resurfacing an antique table, to repairing a
park bench, the Woodshop can get the job
done for you. Please send me a message if
you would like more information on our
program.
