At-Home COVID Testing Kit Distribution for SVHS Students - Jan 11 & 12
The plan for distribution of At-home self-administered COVID-19 rapid tests to all Seneca Valley High School students is specific to our school, and if you have children who attend other MCPS schools, please look for communication about their test kits in the coming days. Administering an At-Home rapid test to the entire school community will help us to identify the spread of the virus, and apply the appropriate mitigation efforts for our school community.
Our at-home COVID test distribution dates are Tuesday, January 11 and Wednesday, January 12 (from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM). In the event of inclement weather/school closure, we will distribute on the next school day.
Please carefully read the specific distribution details for our school:
At-Home Rapid Test Distribution Plan

-
Please access the front entrance of the building via CRYSTAL ROCK DRIVE. A staff member will be available inside to distribute the kit after you provide a student ID#.
-
STUDENT ID# MUST BE PRESENTED TO RECEIVE A TESTING KIT.
-
Each kit contains 2 tests and should be used for the same individual, regardless of vaccination status or presence of COVID-19 symptoms.
-
Please ensure your student administers the first test on the evening they receive the test.
-
Test results (positive/negative) must be reported by Friday 1/14/22 HERE.
This use of this test should not be delayed and is not a substitute for testing after large gatherings or travel. Instructions on how to use the tests are contained within the kit. It is a simple nasal swab that provides results in 15 minutes. You can also view a video from the test manufacturer HERE. These tests are for students attending Seneca Valley High School only. Please do not use them to test household members or others who do not attend our school.
Following the first test, if your student tests positive they must isolate at home for 10 days regardless of vaccination status. Please report the test result using the following link: MCPS Positive Result Reporting Form You may also contact the school directly to report a positive test result by emailing their counselor or administrator.
Once you report the positive case, specific support information and instructional links will be provided to both you and your student to help during this period of quarantine.
