SSIMS PTSA 2024-2025

Welcome to Silver Spring International Middle School (SSIMS)!

We are a diverse community of approximately 1050 students representing more than 40 countries. Our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, and French and Spanish Immersion programs engage students in learning about the world and developing critical thinking skills. The PTSA is an important and energetic part of the SSIMS community. We’re committed to supporting every student, teacher and staff member at our school so that all students have what they need to thrive and succeed. Please also visit our PTSA Website!

It’s going to be a great year at SSIMS. We have a tremendous school and PTSA leadership team, committed and dynamic teachers, and amazing students and dedicated families. We look forward to seeing you as an active volunteer and member of the PTSA. We hope that you will embrace this wonderful community and share your skills and expertise with us. You play an important part in making SSIMS a great school for our students.

What is the PTSA?

The PTSA is a volunteer group where parents, educators, students, and other citizens can play an active role in the SSIMS community. Our mission is to build a safe and supportive school community, celebrate our diversity and international curriculum, support teachers and staff, and strengthen connections between caregivers and staff.

How do I join?

This year, PTSA membership is FREE! To become a member, you need to register at bit.ly/Join-SSIMS-PTSA. Signing up ensures you receive timely communications about school events, volunteer opportunities, and other important information. It’s a great way to stay engaged and connected with the vibrant life of SSIMS.

How can I support the PTSA?

Donate and volunteer. While membership is free, the PTSA runs exclusively on donations. Your donation will help us create programs and events that are inclusive and welcoming to every family, fostering a sense of belonging and community.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 at the start of this school year, allowing the PTSA to spend about $25 per student. We’re asking each member of our Jaguar family to make one strong contribution now to fund PTSA programming all year long. The average donation last year was $70. If you can match (or better yet, exceed) that amount, it will help us immensely.

Your donations will support:

  • Staff appreciation events
  • Community-building events like International Night
  • Grade-level activities like 6th grade Outdoor Education, a 7th grade SSL event, and 8th grade promotion
  • Classroom grants for special educational activities
