Books Worth Checking Out
- "The Survival Guide for Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders" by Elizabeth Verdick and Elizabeth Reeve, M.D. This book describes all of the situations a middle school aged student who is on the autism spectrum can run into. This is also helpful for parents, caregivers, and family members of someone who has ASD. We have this book in our Media Center at SSI ! Link to purchase information.
- “A Friend Like Simon” by Kate Gaynor and illustrated by Catriona Sweeney. Introduces students to autism spectrum disorders by using illustrations that encourages other students to be mindful of all students.
