The goal of the ELD program is to help emergent multilingual learners to learn enough English to function linguistically and culturally in the Montgomery County Public Schools and in the mainstream of American society.
MCPS Department of English Learner and Multilingual Education
The MCPS Elementary ELD curriculum is based on Maryland English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards for ELD instruction. The ELP standards describe expected performance levels for EML students from beginning to advanced language proficiency levels.
