Assistant Principal's message
Hello! For those of you who do not know me, I am the Assistant Principal, Julie Stevens, and I am serving my second year here as a Wheaton Woods Wildcat! I want to begin by saying how excited I am to partake in this school year's journey with you.
Since my role is about building relationships and pushing academic excellence, I'd like to share a bit about myself, personally and professionally. Many years ago, I decided to follow my dream of becoming an educator. During my years here in MCPS, I've worked as an Elementary School Teacher ( Pre-K-3rd grade) and a School Counselor ( 11 years ). I have served and led many teams and committees, such as School Counselor Leadership Team, and Facilitated Race and Equity training. I am presently a cabinet member for our union and conduct professional development for Assistant Principals in the county. I served as Parent Teacher Association secretary and am the fundraiser co-lead of the Montgomery County Black Educators Association.
On a more personal note, I am a mom to Julien, Sydney & Tylyr, a wife to Jefferie Stevens, and a daughter to my 91-year-old mother, Lee; just mentioning their names makes my heart smile. I love spending quality time with family and making memories by hosting themed family functions.
My belief and mission are in student success and that every child can learn. Our leadership team created our school motto this summer: Every person counts. Every moment matters. As an educator, I want to lead and ensure that all students have an opportunity for higher education and equity. I know by working together with all stakeholders, we will have a successful school year 23 - 24.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting your family.
