Walter Johnson HS Chapter of the National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. In addition to maintaining high academic standards and demonstrating the qualities of a leader, members of our chapter serve the Walter Johnson community by coordinating school and community service projects and by volunteering at school and community events.
Eligible candidates must meet or exceed our chapter’s standards for scholarship and service, set at 3.6 GPA or 4.1 WGPA, and 45 student service-learning hours, respectively.
As part of the application process, candidates will need two recommendations: ONE teacher and ONE coach/sponsor. Please make sure to print two copies of the recommendation form and provide them to your recommenders. You can download the form from the following link: 2024-2025 NHS Recommendation Form
Applications for this year's induction class are due by midnight November 17, 2024. Candidates will then be notified of their application status on December 1, 2024.
