Vision

School library media programs are integral to student achievement. They provide all students and staff members with equitable and timely access to ideas and information. Through an integrated instructional program, school library media specialists ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

Mission

The school library media program provides instruction, resources, and services to assist students and teachers in becoming critical thinkers in the pursuit and use of ideas and information.

Media Specialist Roles

The media specialist is a teacher, an instructional partner with the staff, an information specialist and a program administrator The media specialist evaluates and order materials, teaches staff and students how to access information sources and how to choose the best resource for their purpose. The curriculum is supported through technology, information sources and instruction. Our goal in the media center is to promote reading and a love of learning.  The media center is always open for book check out!

MCPS subscribes to many online services to provide students & staff with current, helpful information to support teaching and learning. These databases & resources are selected by experts for accurate, reliable, and up-to-date content.  They are not part of the free Web.
See your media specialist for home usernames & passwords.  Each of these subscription services can be remotely accessed 24/7 with the correct school login.
