Volunteering at Damascus ES
MCPS and Damascus ES value the volunteers who work in our schools to enrich our students’ experiences. As a community, we are mindful of our shared responsibility to create safe, nurturing environments for our students. This training provides guidance for volunteers to help keep students safe. Virtual Instruction Plan
During the 2024-25 school year, MCPS will only schedule a virtual learning day for severe weather conditions if all days incorporated into the calendar for school closures for severe weather conditions have been exhausted. There are 4 make-up days designated in the 2024–2025 school year calendar. There are also two additional days already built into our school year calendar for emergency closures beyond the required 180 school days for students. Any day beyond those 6 may become a virtual learning day. Please see the 2024-2025 Traditional School Year Calendar.
On days designated as a virtual learning day, Damascus Elementary School will begin instruction at 11:00 via Zoom. Students will log into Zoom using the provided link by their homeroom teacher’s name. Please use the Zoom links on this Zoom link document. Students will follow this virtual learning schedule from 11:00-3:50. Please note that a lunch break is provided schoolwide from 12:00-1:00.
Please read the full letter from Mr. Delisle about our virtual learning plan. This letter includes information about requesting a chromebook and/or internet access for virtual instruction.

Apply for Free/Reduced Meals
FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEAL APPLICATIONS: Apply online NOW so that benefits will be in place when school starts! Families who meet certain federal income standards are eligible for free or reduced price meal benefits. All children use their MCPS ID number at the register so confidentiality is maintained and no child is overtly identified as receiving free or reduced-price meals. Only one application is needed for all students in a household. A new application must be completed for any family requesting assistance this school year. The online application is now open for families to submit applications. www.MySchoolApps.com
