Reminder About Social Media & Threats

Our school resource officer, Officer Wesley Allen from the Montgomery County Police Department, has asked me to remind all parents about the importance of monitoring students’ social media accounts and talking to them about the responsible use of social media. Please remind students that if they would not post something with a parent or guardian watching, then they should not post it at all!   In addition, please inform your students that making threats is very serious and the police investigate every threat reported. Students can face school and legal consequences even if they say it was meant to be humorous.  Finally, if you or your students observe a social media post that is concerning, please do not re-post or share the message.  Instead, please immediately contact the police.
