 Leonardo DeValoes, Resource Teacher

The primary goal of our program is to provide an intensive curriculum in the visual arts.

Lessons consist of lectures, demonstrations, slide presentations, studio activities, assigned research, group critiques, and gallery visits. Students have the opportunity to study drawing, painting, digital photography, ceramics and sculptural techniques.

We are one of only a few schools in Montgomery County to offer an AP Art History course.

National Art Honor Society Summer Excursion

The members of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) had an in-depth behind the scenes tour of the National Gallery of Art and got to see most of the departments at work, including digital imaging where they photograph their artworks with a 50 megapixel camera. We saw their video production studio, their works on paper restoration lab, where they dunk 400 year old prints in water baths to clean them.
Afterwards we wandered around the Smithsonian American Art museum and ended our day with the NGA's "Jazz in the Garden" at the Sculpture garden. It was a very classy day.
