Principal's Back to School Message
Dear Parents and Families, August 2008
Welcome to the 2008-09 school year. I hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer and are now preparing for a productive new year. It was a busy summer at RPES with the arrival of our first “learning cottage” (portable classroom) which is now ready for occupancy. Mr. Nelson’s fifth grade students will be housed in this new addition. We also completed our technology modernization in early August and we are looking forward to using these new computers with upgraded programs and software. For information on classroom organization and staffing for the upcoming year, please refer to my August 2008 Newsletter which can be found in the Newsletter archive.
This summer, we welcomed over 30 new families to the Ritchie Park community. We will hold a special meeting for these families (with students in grades 1-5 ONLY) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22nd. At that time, student ambassadors will give tours of the building to students while staff and PTA members will be present to respond to any questions and concerns that parents may have. In addition, we will hold our annual Sneak Preview on Friday, August 22nd from 3-4 p.m. following our new family orientation. On Thursday evening, August 21st, we will host an informational meeting for parents of kindergarten students. This meeting will take place from 7-8 p.m. in our all purpose room and kindergarten teachers and staff from the Department of Transportation will be available to talk about expectations and procedures for our youngest incoming students.
As we prepare for the arrival of students on Tuesday, August 26th, please know that we value our home-school partnership and hope you will volunteer and participate in all aspects of our school.
