April is Earth Month

April is Earth Month and Wyngate has 2 environmental stewardship opportunities.

School Garden Cleanup: Monday, April 22

Spring is in the air and in celebration of Earth Day, we'll be holding a garden cleanup in front of the school on Monday, April 22nd from 10am-11:30am. Come spend some time outdoors on the asynchronous learning day and work alongside other Wyngate families to help beautify our school! See the sign up to rsvp and for additional details such as SSL hours.

There will be something for everyone to enjoy and contribute to the well-being of our planet. We'll tidy up the garden beds, plant flowers, and have materials for kids to make Earth Day themed signs and pot up seeds to take home. Plus, Girl Scout Troop 6001 will be holding a bake sale fundraiser to keep you fueled throughout the event. Funds from the sale will go towards establishing a new garden behind the school!

So grab your reusable water bottles and join us for a morning of environmental stewardship and community bonding. We can't wait to see you there!

For questions please contact Ellen Lee or Sidney Chang.

WE Cares Park Cleanup: Saturday, April 27

The WE Cares Committee invites you and your family to join us for a park cleanup on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. We are excited to partner with Montgomery Parks and provide another volunteer opportunity available for all ages to help clean up Luxmanor Park, located directly behind Luxmanor Elementary School (parking is available at the school). We will have bags for collecting trash and recycling, as well as gloves in a variety of sizes, available for volunteers. We will meet in the Luxmanor Elementary School parking lot at 10 a.m. to distribute materials and then set off to clean up.

Please sign up to let us know you can make it, and how many people will be with you. If your child would like to attend but you cannot, you may grant permission for your child to be supervised by another adult. We are working with Montgomery Parks to allow for SSL credit hours for older siblings.

** If you can only make it for part of the time, that’s ok, we’d still be happy to have you join us. Just leave a comment in your sign up of when you can make it and we will coordinate with you. **

RAIN DATE: If there is inclement weather on April 27, the park clean up will happen on Saturday, May 4

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Susan Elena, Elissa Fuchs, or Ali Hoffman .
