Science Fair Success!
Thanks to all of the students and family members that came out to the PTA sponsored Science Fair. There was lots of learning had by all. Thank you to Mary Nguyen and Simret Belai for their leadership and support for the event.
Calling all Scientists!
The Science Fair is on Wednesday, February 21st at WES! Think up a question, do some research, and test your hypothesis by doing an experiment. Collect data, write up your study results, draw pictures, take photos, or bring demonstrations to show your results. Don't want to do an experiment? Try your hand at interviewing a scientist and presenting your interview at the science fair. Describe what your scientist(s) had to study in school. Find out how they got interested in science. Describe their work now. Your science project presentation must fit on a table in about a 3-foot wide table space.
Your poster must be upright; be sure to put it on a self-supporting presentation board. Students can work alone or in groups from the same or different grades. Parents and other adults in the family can help – but remind them it is YOUR project. This is fun and non-competitive – all students receive a certificate. Projects can be set up on the day of the science fair after 6:30 PM in the All-Purpose Room.
Please join us by participating in one or more ways:
1) Register your Wyngate scientist's project.
2) Sign up to volunteer as a judge.
3) Donate prizes to support this wonderful Wyngate tradition.
4) Volunteer your middle schooler to earn SSL hours
5) Submit scanned artwork to Simret Belai by next Tuesday, January 30th, to be featured as the science fair poster.
Art Submission Details:
-Eligibility: Students in grades K-5
-Theme: Anything related to science, e.g., robotics, biology, chemistry, epidemiology, engineering, physics, weather and climate science, astronomy, etc.
-Submission Deadline: Tuesday, January 30
-Artwork should be original and created by the submitting student
-Size: no larger than 8.5 in wide x 11 in tall
-Must include the following text:
"Wyngate Science Fair" & "Wednesday, February 21, 6:30 PM"
