In this unit, students extend their understanding of combinatorics and probability learned in previous mathematics courses. Some concepts including permutations, combinations, and dependent and independent events may be new to students, which are enrichment, rather than core, components of the Algebra 1 curriculum. Students’ knowledge is extended to understand and make use of conditional probabilities, probabilities for compound events, and probability distributions to develop inferences and predictions involving real-world problems.
