Risk Management

The Division of Financial Reporting performs risk management duties by processing claims. We work with all areas of MCPS to help identify, evaluate, and plan for potential risks that could arise. Loss may result from injury of a student, lawsuit, automobile, and property damage.  We are here to reduce the potential of risk exposure and to provide a safe environment to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students and staff.

MCPS participates with the Montgomery County Self-Insurance Program (MCSIP).  Coverage provided by MCSIP includes worker's compensation, auto, liability, and property. Please email questions or forms to RiskManagement@mcpsmd.org.

We have incurred medical bills due to our child being injured at school.  Does MCPS help pay the medical bills?

Unfortunately, MCPS does not have insurance to help pay for medical bills.  We have general liability insurance that will be triggered if MCPS is liable for the incident.  You may contact Maria_D_Torralba@mcpsmd.org for further assistance.
