Building Our Future Together

The New Teacher Induction program is excited to announce plans for the 2019 New Educator Orientation (NEO). Educators hired by MCPS for the 2019-2020 school year and/or educators hired after August 18, 2018, are expected to attend.  NEO is specifically designed to introduce educators to the MCPS curriculum and the latest on-going assessment methods. In addition, educators will learn how to create and maintain a positive classroom environment, honor diversity, and integrate students of all abilities and learning levels in classroom instruction. Data from the last four years indicate that over 95 percent of attendees recommend NEO for new educators.

NEO will be held over four days from August 20 to August 23, 2019. The general sessions will occur at two sites on August 20, 2019, August 21, 2019 and on August 22, 2019. New special education teachers will attend a fourth day of training on the Special Education Day (August 23, 2019). NEO attendees will be paid for their participation.

All educators are requested to park in the parking lot of the school where they are attending NEO. See the Frequently Asked Questions(PDF) for more details.

Note: Specialty area educators, such as school counselors and therapists often have separate arrangements made for NEO programming. Follow directions from the supervisor/coordinator in your specialty area. Click Contacts – Specialty Areas(PDF) for a contact person.
