Fleet Maintenance has five facilities at transportation depots strategically located throughout the county. Around-the-clock maintenance ensures safe and dependable transportation for students. This unit services 1,300+ school buses and other vehicles totaling over 1,450. Fleet Maintenance is a full-service repair unit that includes authorized warranty repair, body repair, and fuel distribution.

The MCPS Transportation Safety, Training & Staff Development Team conducts training in all phases of school bus driving, safety, and first aid. In addition, the unit is responsible for the ongoing staff development and training of every Division of Transportation Services employee; investigating and collaborating with stakeholders about bus accidents and safety concerns; ensuring staff compliance with federal, state and local laws, policies and regulations including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, and Entry-Level Driver Training. The Team is also responsible for developing, facilitating and leading ongoing professional development trainings for employee growth.

This unit provides scheduling and bus coordination for field trips and activities. Schools are able to request buses through the WebTrips application online.
