Responsibility Policy

Participation in athletic contests and on athletic teams is a privilege for Northwood students. The privilege to represent the school in any contest is dependent upon positive behavior and academic performance in the classroom. All participants will be expected to uphold the high standards of the school. To that end, students will be expected to follow the established guidelines outlined below:

  1. Participation in athletic contests may be restricted based upon weekly academic performance and appropriate behavior at school.
  2. To avoid restrictive participation, student athletes must maintain a passing grade in all four classes (no lower than a “C”) with no violations of school rules/policies or behavioral issues.
  3. Participation for the week will be determined every Monday based upon satisfactory progress reports (academic and behavior) from teachers, coaches, the assistant principal and principal.
  4. Final participation will be determined by the athletic director, assistant athletic director and administration.
  5. Students restricted from participation in any week MUST seek tutorial assistance and/or participate in administrative detention before permission is granted to play.
  6. Parents will be notified by the administration and athletic office if participation is restricted for any reason.
  7. Once reinstated, all student athletes will be expected to adhere to participation guidelines. Failure to do so may result in permanent removal from the team.
