Wheaton High School’s Drama Club was awarded the 2012 NBC SMASH Make-a-Musical Grant, where the club received both financial and professional support.
Thanks in part from a grant from NBC’s TV show SMASH, Wheaton High School is staging the musical, Once on This Island Jr. The grant helped the drama department secure rights and royalties to the show, and provided an opportunity for the students to work with professional artists from New York.

This year, the drama club was visited by a Wheaton Alum, Chloe Arnold, a professional tap dancer/director/choreographer
who holds a successful career in both New York and LA. She talked to the students about what it
takes to make it in today’s world of show business.
