HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
Story
The story of High School Musical resembles a cleaner, more positive Grease. Over winter break Gabriella Montez, a shy bookworm, meets Troy Bolton, a popular basketball star, singing karaoke at a ski lodge's party. The two immediately hit it off, and when the new semester begins, they discover that Gabriella will now attend Troy's school. With a last minute decision, they audition for the Winter Musicale, and surprisingly receive callbacks, driving the school's clique system crazy. With their friends trying to break them up and the school drama queen determined to keep her part, will Troy and Gabriella make it into the musicale?
Characters
Troy Bolton is the most popular guy in school and star of the basketball team where his father is the coach. However, when this super jock makes callbacks for the musicale, not everyone is very happy about it.
Gabriella Montez is the shy new student, who is immediately pulled into the science decathlon for her amazing brainpower. Again, almost nobody is happy about her callback.
Sharpay Evans is the school's drama queen that lives for theater. She has a huge crush on Troy, but hates that he likes Gabriella. She is determined to break them up while preserving her status as queen bee.
Ryan Evans is Sharpay's brother who follows her everywhere. Like her, he loves theater; however, he doesn't always approve of his sister's tactics to keep Gabriella out of the play.
Chad is Troy's best friend and number two for best player on the basketball team. He doesn't want Troy to do the musical, for without him, the team will surely lose.
Taylor is Gabriella's best friend and president of the science club. She wants Gabriella to stay on the team so they can finally win, and disapproves of her callback.
Kelsie is the shy composer of the musicale, Juliet & Romeo. She wants Troy and Gabriella to get the leads, and helps them rehearse for their callback.
Jack Scott, aka the Velvet Fog of Blake High, is the school's new anchor who has a huge crush on Kelsie.
Coach Bolton is Troy's father and the school's basketball coach. He is highly against the theater department, and wants Troy to stay away from it.
Miss Darbus is the drama teacher who strongly dislikes the basketball team, and believes that Troy and his father are trying to ruin her musicale.
