Burning Trees Elementary School

On June 9, 2009 we held our first annual Celebrate Our Bus Drivers' Day.  Students made letters and cards that they gave to the bus drivers and bus attendants.  Each bus driver was "clapped in" as he or she arrived, and then enjoyed both a morning reception and a take-away lunch.  Many thanks to the PTA for donating the Burning Tree water bottles for the drivers and attendants.  They were really surprised to receive them.  We used kindergartener's drawings to decorate the tables and the entire front brick wall of the school as well as a giant banner and balloons. With Herbie Hancock playing in the background, it was definitely a morning to be remembered, especially for the bus drivers.  Thank you everyone who donated food and/or their time to this wonderful event.  A special kudos to Laurel Goeke for partnering with the administration to organize all the volunteers and the event set-up!
