School & Community News…

Monday, April 22nd is an asynchronous learning day and will be used as a make-up instructional day for students. This means students will NOT physically come to school, but will independently complete assignments sent home by their teachers. Students will have until May 1st to turn their assignments in.  All students will be marked present initially, and completed assignments will count as their attendance on April 22nd.  Kindergarten Asynchronous Learning Day | Grade 1 Asynchronous Learning Day | Grade 2 Asynchronous Learning Day | Grade 3 Asynchronous Learning Day | Grade 4 Asynchronous Learning Day | Grade 5 Asynchronous Learning Day

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Burtonsville next week April 23rd - April 26th.  The book fair will be open Tuesday - Thursday 9:30 - 4:00 and Friday 9:30 - 12:00.  More information can be found on our book fair website.  We need volunteers to help our book fair run smoothly.  If you can volunteerhere is the link to sign up.  

Career Day at BES has been CANCELED. Unfortunately, due to a lack of volunteer responses, we will not be hosting a Career Day event at Burtonsville this year.  Alternate classroom activities have been planned.  As well, students are encouraged to show their Career Week spirit.  See flyer here.

Take Your Child to Work Day is this Thursday, April 25th.  MCPS allows students to participate in this event in recognition of the unique benefits of workplace mentoring for young children. This event is designed to introduce children to the workplace.  Students will be excused from school if they will be participating in this event and the letter attached here is completed and returned to your child’s teacher.

Administration of the MARYLAND COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (MCAP) ðŸŽ“ -  will resume on Wednesday, May 1st, with students in grade 3 taking the Mathematics portion of the assessment.
