Welcome to East Silver Spring Elementary School

East Silver Spring Elementary School East Silver Spring Elementary School was originally built in 1927, which makes it one of Montgomery County's oldest schools. In fact, in 1992, during Silver Spring's Sesquicentennial, ESS received a commendation from the county for its long and fruitful service to the community.

The original building was severely damaged by fire but was rebuilt and modernized in 1979. An additional wing was added in 1987 and two new wings were completed in August 2010.

Fire Up your Feet Challenge starts May 1st, 2016!

Ms. Robinson has signed up our school to participate in this challenge.  Won't you log on and record your families physical activities for the month of May? Students who get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day are fitter, healthier, and have better focus in class, studies find. The Fire Up Your Feet Activity Challenge is a program that offers new opportunities for physical activity before, during and after school for students and families. Participating in the challenge is easy, simply log any type of physical activity: yoga, gardening, P.E., dance, biking, walking, anything active!  This spring, K-8 schools can win cash awards to support physical activity and health programs.   Parents, guardians and school staff can sign up for the free program at fireupyourfeet.org . Awards are based on the percentage of participation at your school, so the more people who sign up and track, the better your chances of earning awards!   Challenge Awards help to support walking school bus or bike train programs, the purchase of bike racks, incentives for walking and biking, traffic safety measures, and much more.   If you have questions after visiting the fireupyourfeet.org web page feel free to contact Ms. Robinson at: christine_m_robinson@mcpsmd.org
