Information for SAP Poster and Video Contest Posters
Purpose Of Contest: Use an original, creative poster or video to inform students about the Student Assistance Program, an anonymous way to get adult help for someone in trouble, or headed for trouble.
Include as much of the following information as possible:
How it works: Fill out a form (anonymously, if you choose) describing your concern, and place form in the SAP box in the Main Office. (Four new locations will be announced in December or January.)
A team of MHS teachers who have received special training review the forms regularly and take appropriate action, depending on the nature of the problem. All information is confidential.
Examples of problems that could be reported, so a student can get the help he/she might be afraid or embarrassed to ask for (you are not limited to these examples):
Eating disorder
Pregnancy
Abused by parent or relative (verbal, psychological, emotional or physical)
Abused by boyfriend/girlfriend (persistent texting, controlling, intimidating, manipulating, etc.)
Bullying of any kind (verbal putdowns or threats, physical), any place (internet, school bus, anywhere)
Drug and/or alcohol abuse
Self-mutilation (hair-pulling, cutting, etc.)
Poster Size: 22” x 28” (standard poster size) or 22” x 14”; for hallways and classrooms.
Video Length: Up to 5 minutes for a daily or Friday Special announcement.
Deadline: Friday, January 29, 2010, 5:00 PM. Bring your entries to Mrs. Wheatley in room D 258. Contact Mrs. Winters, Every 15 Minutes Program Coordinator, at patty.winters@verizon.net when your entry is complete or if you have any questions.
Prizes (for each category): 1st Prize: $65 gift card to wide selection of restaurants or stores; 2nd Prize: $45 gift cards to same selection; 3rd Prize: $25 gift cards to same selection; Honorable Mention: 2 movie tickets.
IMPORTANT: Judging will be based on concept. You don’t have to be a great artist or actor. Open to all students. Submit your entry with a code name to keep judging impartial. Winners announced February 5, 2010. ENTER AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT!!!
