In the United States, National Foreign Language Week is celebrated in the first weeks of March annually, with a theme selected by Alpha Mu Gamma, the national collegiate foreign language honor society.  This year the Week falls on March 2-8, and we at Neelsville will be joining in the celebration.

The theme for the 2009 Foreign Language week this year is: "Many Hands, Many Voices, One World"

The week will be marked with posters in different foreign languages throughout the school, and by highlighting some of the many languages and cultures (30 +) represented here at Neelsville on the  morning show.  Students and teachers will have an opportunity to hear, in various languages, the Neelsville adage “When you’re not in class, you’re on your way to class”.  There will be quizzes with prizes to the winners.

And what celebration would be complete without food?  Students and teachers will also have an opportunity to purchase croissants and churros, and empanadas – sample foods from French and Hispanic culture – the two languages taught at Neelsville.  Orders will be taken on Wednesday and Thursday during Knight Time, and delivered on Friday also during Knight Time.

Croissants – Chocolate/Butter - $2.00; Churros - $1.00; and Empanadas - $2.00.

 ¡Que se divierten mucho!    Enjoy!
